Two Japanese-language teachers complete training programme in Japan

Two Lao secondary school teachers, have completed a six-week Japanese language training programme in Japan.
Ms Tavivanh Vorachit from Phonthan secondary school and Ms Leokham Vongxay from Vientiane secondary school participated in the programme at the Japanese Language Institute in Saitama. The training was conducted by the Japan Foundation.
The two teachers returned to Laos on 17 August after completing their training.
The Japan Foundation is Japan’s only institution dedicated to carrying out comprehensive international cultural exchange programmes across the world. The Foundation conducts programmes in the three major areas of arts and cultural exchanges, Japanese-language education overseas, and Japanese studies and international dialogue.
The Japanese language training programme is designed to provide an opportunity to teachers to improve their Japanese language skills. During FY2022, 50 teachers from 19 counties participated in this training programme.
At the end of the training, the Lao teachers made a presentation along with the other participants. Both teachers delivered a presentation about “Toilets in Japan”, which highlighted the differences between Japan and Laos and focused on reasons why toilets in Japan are always kept clean.
Ms Leokham said she learned a lot of things during the training, including Japanese language skills, teaching methods, Japanese culture, traditions and lifestyle.
She will utilise these experiences to teach Japanese language with fun in her class.
Another two Lao participants are participating in a six-month basic training programme for teachers of the Japanese language from August 2022 to February 2023.
